The Apartments at Palladian Place are located in Durham, and around the Fourth of July, Durham comes alive with patriotic celebrations. This means you don’t have to travel far from your home to enjoy plenty of red, white, and blue festivities! Here are the best local events to put on your calendar for the Fourth this year:
Appreciate the River at Festival for the Eno
July 2 & 4, 10am – 6pm
Durham City Park
On July 2 and 4 from 10 until 6, West Point on the Eno at Durham City Park will be hosting the 37th Annual Festival for the Eno. This popular Durham event will bring together everything you love – food trucks, local art, hands-on demos, and, of course, exceptional live music. Make plans to attend to hear Hiss Golden Messenger, Nikki Hill, Peter Holsappel with the Forryst Brothers and more as you enjoy the beauty of the Eno river. This year’s festival will include paddling demonstrations, giving you a chance to see how you can best enjoy one of Durham’s finest amenities – our very own river!
Take Yourself Out to the Ballgame at Durham Bulls Athletic Park
July 4th, 6:05pm
Durham Bulls Stadium
It’s a Durham tradition, and this year is no different. Every Fourth of July, the Durham Bulls host a home game right before the city’s fireworks show. This year they will be hosting the Syracuse Chiefs with a 6:05 start time. Tickets to the game include the fireworks show afterwards, and the ballpark is the best place to view the display.
July 4th, 9:15pm
Durham Bulls Stadium
After the Durham Bulls game, stick around to see the spectacular fireworks show put on by the Durham Parks and Recreation department. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park is the ideal spot to see the fireworks, which are scheduled for 9:15 p.m., but you don’t necessarily have to go to the game to enjoy the fireworks. Gates to the ballpark will open for general admission after the 7th inning of the game, but with limited availability. Some viewing outside of the stadium is available, but the ballpark is the best location from which to enjoy the spectacular.
